Today, customers are moving their regulated workloads to the cloud, and they should keep several things to achieve this.

  • Manage risk and compliance with as much automation and standardization as possible to increase effectiveness and lower costs.
  • Ensure data protection with zero trust by implementing the least privilege for their identity access management or ensuring encrypted storage.
  • Automate continuous detection and response for misconfiguration of cloud resources.
  • Make it simple to infuse security and privacy with DevSecOps.

IBM Cloud includes the Security and Compliance Center to resolve these problems. Also, we will dive into the integration of Tanium Comply into the IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center.

IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center (SCC)

Security and Compliance Center is IBM Cloud’s simplified and centralized cloud compliance posture. SCC provides continuous compliance monitoring against predefined profiles based on security best practices and industry compliance standards. It is geared toward regulated workloads needing to accelerate public cloud adoption. By default, workloads are secured with the easiest onboarding experience. SCC is the central way to enforce or prevent misconfiguration for all IBM Cloud services. The key benefit of IBM Cloud’s SCC is hybrid multi-cloud support to scan multiple clouds and on-prem resources for best security practices.

Tanium Comply in the IBM Cloud

The Tanium platform unifies security and IT operation teams with a single view of critical endpoint data in real time. Tanium provides a highly comprehensive and high-fidelity source of truth so that organizations can see every endpoint, regardless of hybrid cloud, containerized, on-prem, or remote. IBM Cloud and Tanium working together helps customers deepen their capabilities for reducing breaches or security events.

How does Tanium and IBM Cloud integration work?

For example, here we solve how to see compliance results from IBM Cloud and Tanium in one dashboard.

IBM Cloud Security

Step 1: Log in to IBM Cloud on ibm.com.

Step 2: Go to the left panel and select Security and Compliance.

IBM Cloud Services

Step 3. Select Integration from the Security and Compliance Center window and set up Tanium.

Step 4. Go to the Tanium title, click Connect, and fill out the Connection name.

Step 5. Fill out the Registration URL as the URL of the Tanium instance and click on Next.

Step 6. Click on the result format Native, and click Connect.

Now, you can view service ID, an API key that allows you to secure a connection between Tanium and the Security Compliance Center.

Step 13. Click Next on the window that appears. Then click on Create.

Scope gets created, and you get the URL to point the Tanium at and use the API key and service ID to securely communicate from Tanium into the IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center.

Step 14. Copy the URL, bring it over to Tanium with the API key, and finish the integration part in Tanium.

Conclusion

IBM Cloud is becoming the most secure cloud provider, making security and compliance safe by default. It provides the best level of production experience: stable, reliable, and extensible API and Terraform templates.
