Google Cloud’s Cross-Cloud Interconnect (CCI) is a networking solution that helps you to establish private, high-speed, and low-latency connections between resources across multiple Google Cloud regions or cloud providers. The Cross-Cloud Interconnect service enables you to create a virtual private network (VPN) or dedicated Interconnect connection between your on-premises network and Google Cloud. This helps you build a hybrid cloud environment or a multi-cloud setup, enabling seamless communication between the public cloud and Google Cloud regardless of their location.
With Cross-Cloud Interconnect, enterprises can set up connectivity across multi-cloud environments, benefiting from simplified configuration and reduced hardware requirements. It allows for dedicated connectivity between Google Cloud and supported cloud service providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and Alibaba Cloud.
How to setup cross-cloud interconnect
Step 1. Log in to Google Cloud Console.
Step 2. Click on the navigation menu and click on Products and Solutions.
Step 3. Click on All Products and select Networking.
Step 4. Click on Hybrid Connectivity.
Step 5. After migrating to Hybrid Connectivity, click on Interconnect.
Step 6. Choose CREATE VLAN ATTACHMENT and select Cross-Cloud Interconnect Connection.
Step 7. Click on CONTINUE.
This will help you connect Google Cloud Network to AWS, Azure, Oracle, Alibaba Cloud, and more that you can connect with GCP.
Step 8. From the five options that appear, click on the first one to set up the configuration. Right-click on Create an Interconnect Connection and open it in a new tab.
Step 9. Under Order Interconnect, give a name to the interconnect. Then select the Remote cloud provider. Select a remote location. Then select the same location for google cloud. Next, select the capacity better for your business. And click on the NEXT button.
Step 10. In the Order redundant interconnect, give the details with the same name in Order interconnect. And click on the NEXT button.
Step 11. Give your email address in Contact information and click the NEXT button.
Step 12. Click on Review to preview your order before placing.
Step 13. Click on PLACE ORDER. Then the email will trigger and will backend the whole process.
Step 14. Similarly, create Interconnect A and Interconnect B.
Step 15. Go for the fourth option, which is Configure BGP session.
Step 16. Next, go to Configure remote cloud resources to confirm your remote cloud resources.
There is a service provider between Google Cloud and your on-premise data center. And this is a physical interconnect link. Here you can use a VPN with low bandwidth for hybrid connectivity.
Conclusion
Cloud networking aims to provide businesses with greater flexibility, scalability, and efficiency in managing their multi-cloud infrastructure. By leveraging Cross-Cloud Interconnect, organizations will have the advantage of Google Cloud’s services while seamlessly connecting and integrating with other cloud providers as needed.
